Meet Heather Darnell, Safety Director for Watkins Trucking, a Birmingham, Alabama-based flatbed company. Heather joined Watkins in March 2008 and has been putting her passion for safety in our industry to work. In 2015, Heather was named Safety Professional of the Year by the Alabama Trucking Association. She is also the co-chair for the ATA Comp Fund Risk Management Advisory Committee (RMAC), a panel of representatives from all over the industry that meet to discuss trends and changes in safety. Meet Gary Smith, Safety Manager for Perdido Trucking Service, a Mobile, Alabama-based truckload carrier with locations in Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. Gary joined Perdido in August 2011. Meet Scott Godbee, Safety/HR Director for Pitts & Sons, Inc., a Saraland, Alabama-based towing and recovery service that has been in business since 1948. Meet Liz St. Clare, a transportation professional who has been in the industry since 2008. She is the Safety Director for Deep South Freight/Commercial Hauling Co, a Birmingham, Alabama-based company, and has been with them since 2014. Meet Brian and Val Lindley, owners of LB3 Trucking in Wedowee, Alabama. Founded in 2012, LB3 Trucking is a reefer operation, a far cry from their start as a side business of buying, collecting and reselling organic fertilizer to local farms. Meet Layn Muller, responsible for safety for C2C Express, a dry goods haulers based in Sioux City, Iowa.
